WHISTLER
Whistler is a ski resort about 100 miles north of Vancouver which has developed from nothing to a major development in the last 25 years. It was out of season when we visited, so the only snow to be seen was on top of the mountains. There are lots of pictures with snow, but not many without!
Whistler Village
With two vast mountains as a backdrop, the setting of Whistler Village is stunning - but that is only the beginning. This is a pedestrian-only place, so
we could randomly wander the streets, without the worry of traffic. The village has everything, shops and boutiques, galleries, pubs, cafés and restaurants.
Deluxe resorts, more functional condominiums, or chalets are just minutes walk away.
We visited every shop in the Village and Claudette got
her red
CANADA bag in one of the gift shops. We ate at a lovely restaurant
with Mum and Jan.
Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains
These twin ski hills are an attraction in themselves. Even for those who are not into winter sports, hiking here or even simple people-watching here is fascinating. Whistler and Blackcomb are premier examples of classic
ski hills. On the mountains themselves are great restaurants and lodges, with gourmet mountaintop dining being something that must be experienced. It's all a gondola ride away.
